Leadership plan. It is difficult…

There is a proverb “If you want God to move to laughter tell him about your plans”. But there is another one too “Rely on God but help yourself too”. I think this is true about any voyage to leadership. Could we measure it by success or some measurement rules? Is it  something that  could be measured by people or it’s measured just by your personal desire to become famous. Who is a leader in modern time? Through presentations in class we learnt that leader could be young girl who writes  blog about her country and struggles to  access education for girls. Or it could be dictator who is leading a country almost all his life and still with crown. Or it is woman who sacrificed her family and personal happiness for the future of her country. Or it could be a young innovator who found a new approach to solving ecological problem. We discussed different leaders – from Myanmar, Pakistan, Denmark, Zimbabwe. They are different and they have supporters and haters.

Yesterday one of the leaders of a small country died. He was well known for many years. People began to discuss whether he was a good leader or not. Some hate him, some respect him. In the mourning in Cuba, some felt  relief , the majority perceived the news with a certain share of indifference. Castro’s heritage is the country in ruins, the country  which the youth wants to flee”, – has written to Yoani Sanchez on Twitter.

Carlos Lopez has told to the Miami Herald edition: “We celebrate the death not of one person, but ideology death. We celebrate that small piece of freedom which we have returned today”. (VOA, 2016). But for some people he is the whole epoch. Most of the opinions that  I saw were about a dictator who brought misery and poverty to his country. I am wondering was it his dream to be remembered like this? Not sure. This is the dilemma of all leaders like him. It is not only about becoming a leader but also keeping your leadership capacity for your supporters and followers.

I still question what a leader means to me… For me leaders could be moms of disabled kids who every day in my country do heroic things or journalists who still serve as journalists, manage their homes and also do their jobs perfectly well. We see there are different types of leaders, for me what matters is to be a leader who serves as voice for the voiceless e or people who struggle with the system.

What about my plan? I just want to live meaningfully for me and for my society. This what I know exactly. My plan after US is to share my knowledge, build strong community and find my personal leadership path. Whether it will be teaching or building strings of  PR community or working for communications for change I will belong to my truth – honest with myself and people, open to new, accept diverse world and be consistent in steps. What about tactics?

My first plan is to bring knowledge of PR to young professionals and students. I want to implement educational program on communications and share my knowledge. The second one is to implement ideas of my educational year. I want to bring voices of my community living in different parts of my country into the agenda of the society.

It is not enough maybe. But these things I see for upcoming 2 years.

I was said by famous Persian poet of middle century. “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”  There is many things on my plate.
